Location Based Services

What is it?

Location based services is a term used for any service which involves providing location-relevant services or information to mobile subscribers based on the subscribers current location.

How does it work?

The aql location based platform provides longitude and latitude for each subscriber number. Our platform is queried via a simple-to-integrate API. Click here for the specification document.

Legal and Privacy Related Information

Tracking a mobile subscriber without the subscribers permission is unlawful and carries heavy penalties. The aql platform has failsafe mechanisms in place to help ensure that a subscriber is not tracked without their express opt-in permission. Before a successful query can be made via our API, the subscriber must first have sent an opt-in text to our shortcode 64446, with the keyword "locate".

If you have your own dedicated shortcode with aql, we can also enable the same mechanism on your own code. Further information on this can be found here

Billing :

Location based services are subject to a setup charge of £350 + vat and a charge of £0.15 + vat per location request via our API. In addition, there is a minimum spend requirement of £350 + vat per month. This fee can sometimes be waivered if your campaign is particularly high volume or uses an inbound MSISDN service.
