The Datacentre Manager has the responsibility for coordinating day-to-day operational service provision functions for all of of aql’s major datacentre sites, including datacentres located within the Grade II listed, Salem Chapel, and also in the Isle of Man. Activities include implementing regulations and processes to deliver best practice and total customer satisfaction.
Leading a dynamic and hands-on team, the successful candidate must have practical implementation skills equal to their theoretical knowledge.
Duties and responsibilities
Responsible for the day-to-day running of the centres to ensure provision of timely, quality service and total customer satisfaction.
Ensuring that the datacentres are maintained and operational 24/7 by providing daily audits and reporting about the performance level of services.
Driving DMS strategy and developing the UK DMS operation by improving site capability, efficiency and effectiveness.
Developing project documentation and providing advice as a Technical Authority.
Managing and developing a small team.
Leading datacentre engineering projects; supervising staff on-site to ensure project tasks are fully delivered to the right standard.
Developing and maintaining all datacentre standards, procedures, health and safety, and infrastructure performance issues.
Ensuring facilities are maintained to the standards required for customer satisfaction and employee health and safety.
Providing technical advice on managing problems within the datacentre infrastructure.
Building long-term relationships with customers by meeting or exceeding their expectations.
Completing and maintaining all daily and weekly reports and logs.
Completing and maintaining all records and forms with respect to receiving and/or releasing customer data.
You will have
Demonstrable and strong working experience in a datacentre or telecommunications field.
Excellent knowledge of datacentre operation and management procedures.
Ability to work as part of a team, to build and develop successful long-term relationship with customers, direct reports, other teams and departments.
Experience of or ability to develop and document operational processes.
Excellent knowledge of datacentre power distribution and cooling systems.
Excellent knowledge of monitoring the datacentre environment and critical assets.
Strong working knowledge of the technical requirements and builds of power infrastructures for datacentres and telecommunication/IT equipment.
Strong people management skills, with the ability to focus and guide others in accomplishing work objectives.
Project management skills and experience.
Ability to logically and methodically think through problems.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Full driving licence.
Electrical qualification desirable.
