aql hosts Digital Leaders Salon on healthcare innovation
September’s edition of the Digital Leaders talks, for which aql is the Yorkshire host and representative, dealt with how both citizens and medical practitioners have their part to play in driving digital innovation.
Speaking on the evening were mHabitat founder and director Dr Victoria Betton and NHS Digital Chief Nurse Anne Cooper. Dr Betton opened the evening with a presentation on the Integrated Care Pioneer-funded Digital Practitioner Programme, something she is leading with the city council. mHabitat have been working to design a system which works for practitioners, patients and citizens, and one of their key findings is that, by and large, practitioners are in favour of more innovation, yet face barriers such as out-of-date technology and worries about privacy and security.
Following this, Anne Cooper discussed the other side of the coin, with more of a spotlight on the patient perspective, highlighting problems such as lack of communication between practitioners and expressing a wish for tech companies to work with the healthcare industry to establish solutions to these problems.
The evening was well-attended and much spirited discussion was had on the topics – for more information on upcoming Digital Leaders Salons, visit aql’s events page below.
