aql highly commended by Chamber of Commerce
aql was highly commended by the West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce Wednesday night at the annual Raising the Bar awards.
Now in their fifth year, the awards celebrate businesses’ social impact, and their efforts to make their local areas exceptional places to work and live. aql was recognised for its contribution to the local economy.
Chief Operating Officer Sarah Tulip attended the ceremony for aql with Account Manager Bethany Lowden.
Tulip said: “We’ve built a lot of the internet infrastructure that has allowed Leeds to become a major tech hub, and helped make tech a large and growing employer in the region,” adding, “Through our work with universities and colleges, the Northern Powerhouse, and diversity-focused organisations like Ahead Partnership, as well as our investment in smart cities and sustainable energy, we’re continuing to help transform Leeds and the North. The North is a pretty special place, and we want to make sure it flourishes far into the future.”
Sandy Needham, chief executive of the West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “We’re delighted that there are so many companies of different sizes and sectors making a difference by working with the wider community. These awards highlight businesses who are acting responsibly and encouraging colleagues to get involved in whatever way is right for them from helping with employment, linking with education or raising funds.”
The awards were held at Civic Hall in Leeds, and were sponsored by the Provident Financial Group, Leeds City Council and LeedsBID.
