aql Signs the Armed Forces Covenant: A Commitment to Those Who Serve Our Nation

aql is proud to announce that our founder and chairman, Professor Adam Beaumont, officially signed the Armed Forces Covenant at the beginning of January. By signing the covenant, Adam, who is also an Honorary Group Captain in the Royal Air Force Auxiliaries (RAuxAF), attached to the historic City of London Battle of Britain 601 Sqn.

We have pledged solemnly that aql will not only recognize the vital role that the armed forces play in safeguarding our nation but also to ensure that aql remains committed to supporting armed forces personnel and their families.

aql has long been committed to supporting the military, making history as the first telecoms operator to roll out an accredited 5G mobile network for the Ministry of Defence. Our network is being used at RAF Leeming as part of the RAF’s ASTRA programme and also to provide supporting technology for the airforce’s Project Vital. Professor Beaumont’s signing of the Covenant is the next step in our commitment to working with and supporting Britain’s armed forces.

What is the Armed Forces Covenant?

The Armed Forces Covenant is a promise to ensure that those who actively serve or have previously served in the armed forces are treated fairly and with respect. It recognises that serving in the military involves sacrifices that extend beyond the individual. The covenant establishes a framework in which businesses, volunteers, and members of the public can work together to support servicemen and women.
By signing the covenant, we are pledging to stand in solidarity with veterans, service leavers, and military families.

Our Commitment

Promote the armed forces: We will promote the fact that we are an armed forces-friendly organisation to our staff, customers, suppliers, contractors and the wider public

Support veterans: We will support the employment of veterans, recognising military skills and qualifications in our recruitment and selection process.

Support and empower reserves and cadets: We will support employees who are already in the reserve forces or part of any military cadet organisation, and encourage those who are interested in joining.

Observe national events: We will observe military holidays and events such as Armed Forces Day, Reserves Day, Remembrance Day and other associated activities.

Support Military Charities and Provide Military Discounts: We will provide support for military charities through the provision of fundraising and support staff where possible. We will also provide discounted services to the military community.

Looking Ahead

Signing the Armed Forces Covenant shows our commitment to ensuring that our brave servicemen and women feel valued and supported in their transition to civilian life. It is also confirmation of our determination to build a workplace that reflects the diversity and strength of our nation.

This is more than an act of goodwill; it is a formal acknowledgment of our responsibility to those who serve and their families as part of our mission to build a stronger, more inclusive community.

Let’s stand together in support of those who protect our freedom. To learn more about the armed forces covenant, please visit their website here.
