A customised mobile base station on location at North Yorkshire’s Ribblesdale caving system, Alum Pot.
Working closely with award winning production company, Candour Productions, aql has been challenged to deliver 5G services to support real-time filming in extreme environments, including caving, mountain tops and other hard to reach areas, to create engaging, inspiring content, with multiple camera angles. The Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS) funded Live + Wild project will explore the possibilities of streaming live content for broadcast and dispatching raw footage from remote and challenging terrains directly back to editing facilities using 5G.
Five extreme, endurance and adventure sporting events have been chosen to test the capability of live streaming footage and sending video to the post-production hub in record time directly from the film location.
A customised mobile base station will support 5G enabled live broadcasting in extreme locations including challenging sites such as sea cliffs in North Wales, deep inside caves in North Yorkshire, during a triathlon in the Lake District and following ultra-runners across Britain.
