The UK 5G Showcase
Hosted by DCMS and UK5G in Birmingham.
Exploring the real-life use cases and benefits emerging from the 5G Testbeds & Trials Programme.
The UK’s 5G Showcase
UK 5G speaker, Prof. Adam Beaumont.
We recently demonstrated our 5G project work at The UK’s 5G Showcase hosted by DCMS and UK5G in Birmingham. It was an excellent opportunity to not only discuss the real-life use cases and benefits that are emerging from 5G Testbeds & Trials Programmes, but also the opportunities to accelerate the drive towards our 5G Future.

The Live + Wild UK 5G stand.
We were challenged to deliver 5G services capable of easily supporting real-time filming in extreme environments as part of the Live + Wild Project. This project creates immersive, engaging and inspiring content in some of the most rural areas in the country.
At the showcase, we were able to present how five extreme, endurance and adventure sporting events were chosen to test the capability of live streaming footage, as well as sending video to the post-production hub in record time directly from the film location, all supported by aql’s 5G Mobile Base Station.

The Connected Cowes UK 5G stand.
The showcase provided the opportunity to discuss the challenges of building a 5G Network across the Solent for Connected Cowes, allowing our aql Core™ IoT Platform to capture real-time telemetry from boats racing in the Solent regattas. This has become the basis for unique STEM CREW learning resources for the 1851 Trust charity.
The Eden Universe UK 5G stand.
The Eden Universe project demonstrated its use of high bandwidth and low latency 5G to offer high-resolution 360 VR cameras to bring the Eden Project’s message of climate change to the world. This was seen in action during its Rainforest Reconnect online broadcast.
Additionally, our aql Core™ IoT Platform is using live data to explore how smart technology can help us learn about the environment and reduce our carbon footprint.

aql Edge™ Gateway Boards.
Showcasing our involvement in the 5G-Factory of the Future (5G-FoF) project, we were able to discuss and demonstrate how our private 5G Network in conjunction with our aql Core™ IoT Platform will enable real-time, low-latency coordination in tomorrow’s factory environment.
Providing real-time visibility into manufacturing workflows will help identify areas where a factory can reduce costs, improve productivity and increase output.

As part of the Mobile Access North Yorkshire (MANY), we were able to demonstrate our smart tank monitoring system at the rural Tupgill Estate, leveraging our aql Edge™ Sensor Boards and aql Core™ IoT Platform. Through 24×7 live monitoring, our aql Core™ IoT Platform has enabled this remote estate to accurately report fuel levels, and save costs incurred from manual checks or sudden low fuel levels.
